Pit Stop: School (Bakery & Restaurant) on Fraser Avenue

Sometimes proximity and decadence just go together.   I work a couple of skips and hops away from School (70 Fraser Ave. in Liberty Village) which is a tough place to peg down- as it's a bakery, brunch, and restaurant joint mostly geared towards the working crowd.  With a wall full of clocks, scribbled notes doubling as a light fixture, and old globes and typewriters strewn about, this place has the ambience of a private/boarding school (think Dead Poets Society).  I only wish my actual school-years were as classy.  But I'm not here to talk to you about the A+ interior of this place.  What I really want to bring to light is their baked goods.  I would probably barter my soul to have an unlimited supply of two items:  1) cheddar-chive biscuit 2) white chocolate blueberry scone.  One is perfectly savoury, while the other is perfectly sweet.  Both are a mish-mash of flavours that will have your taste buds in a tizzy.  That's all you have to know.  I can't comment on the rest of the food there, as I haven't really ventured past pastries.

Let's just say that when I waltz through the doors of my workplace with an unlabelled white box, people know what's inside.  Most people reserve these treats for birthdays and other celebrations, but sometimes I just declare a scone-biscuit day out of the blue (usually to cap off a hard week).  Did I forget to mention that they also serve the best coffee in all of Liberty Village?  You'll just have to see for yourself.

Class assignment: Go forth and eat carbs.
