A note on wine journaling:
Usually I have my wine journal handy to jot down a few quick notes when I'm tasting a wine at home. There's a place for me to peel off the label and adhere it to my journal afterwards, in case I want to blog about the wine days later and can't recall the name or tasting notes off of the top of my head.
It gets a little more complicated if I'm bringing a wine to a party, as people will generally give you a strange look if you're taking out a journal amongst festivities and finger foods (unless you're in a room of journalists...they'd probably get it). This is why I have a light travel-size note pad (Kate Spade does this best) perfect for jotting down a note or two on the fly.
Now allow me to introduce you to this week's wine. This is hands down the best Sauvignon Blanc I've tasted at the 15$ price point. Here's why:
Tasting notes: Citrus, Fresh Herbs, Very Dry
Pair with: Grilled Fish, Vegetarian Kebabs, Guacamole
Cost: $14.95 CDN
Perks: This is a new wine, so it's exciting to find a well-priced white that doesn't disappoint you when you stray from your old faithfuls. I love how the wine's label is slightly asymmetrical-it may be a small aesthetic detail, but it's what caught my eye in the first place.
Cons: If you bring this wine to a party like I did, you'll be forced to share it with others ;)
Overall Glossless Rating (based on totally unscientific and arbitrary values): 9/10
