For this week's wine pick, I asked my boyfriend to run out and scoop up whatever he could find me on his day off. I gave him no hints as to what I wanted, other than to make it a white wine. He came back with a wine I'd been wanting to try for ages, as if we had somehow communicated it telepathically.
A brief note about the vineyard: I've researched this Beamsville vineyard before, and hope to visit it one day, if only to meet their Rogue Hen! This particular wine was apparently named after the owner's mother, Elizabeth (aka. Betty) who according to their website is a common sighting around their bistro. As soon as the weather warms up a little, I think I'll need to book another trip to Ontario's own gem of a wine region. For now, here's a little bit of info about Betty's Blend:
Tasting notes: Apricot, Citrus, Dry
Pair with: Sesame Chicken & Mango Salsa
Cost: $17.95 CDN
Perks: This wine is a simple reminder that summer is around the corner, and that the Niagara region is not so very far away for us Toronto city-dwellers.
Cons: This wine went down smooth, but didn't seem very complex in its tasting notes. That would be my own complaint.
Overall Glossless Rating (based on totally unscientific and arbitrary values): 8.3/10
