Wine Pick: Long Weekend Edition-Jaffelin Bourgogne Aligoté 2012

If your Victoria Day long weekend, a National holiday in Canada, is proving to be more of a staycation than a vacation, you need not fret.  Just sit back and enjoy what little sun you've been able to soak up with a light jacket (note to self: do not stop wearing jacket until July... brrr) and pretend you just flew to France for the weekend.  You'll need some props to do so, such as a handsome man in a striped shirt who is able to pour you wine while speaking at least rudimentary French.  If you can't find such man, just grab your roommate, mom, or pretty much anyone who is able to carry a platter of cheese, baguette and French wine to you as you recline on your patio chair muttering expressions like "merde" under your breath.

Here's my wine pick for just this type of spectacle, Jaffelin Bourgogne Aligoté 2012:

Tasting notes: Caramel, Pear
Pair with:  Cheese, Cheese, Cheese

Cost:  $ 16.45 CDN

Perks: I bought this wine because it gave me bonus points on my credit card, although, right now I doubt I have enough miles to fly me downtown.
Cons: This wine is likeable and smooth, but hardly remarkable.  Kind of a wallflower.

Overall Glossless Rating (based on totally unscientific and arbitrary values): 8/10
